Phew!

Hurricane Ike veered north yesterday, and as I write this, is slamming Galveston on the way to Houston. I'm sure Sammy is getting rain and wind, but not at all what was expected. Weather forecast says a chance of thunderstorms and only 30-50% chance of precipitation.

It also helped that he called home tonight. We talked for only 5 minutes before he had to let the next kid talk, but was able to tell me he was OK with all of the PT except the running (a mile every morning); he was able to now have his iPod at school (maybe in November); and Geometry and Algebra 2 together is not an easy task. His bunkmate is also a senior newbie, so that is good. He is now finished with his Plebe period (hence the phone call), but the graduation ceremonies are delayed until next weekend.

He would love mail and said to tell everyone hello... He did sound good and upbeat on the phone, he said that he was liking it so far. Sounded much better than he looks in this photo: http://www.mma-tx.org/whatsnew/SchlYear0809/FBMMALyford/pages/_MG_1859_jpg.htm

Went to back to school night for Jacob and Matt last night as well. We know that third grade is the 'make or break' year, but it looks like Matt's probably going to breeze through this year. Jacob has science camp to look forward to this year, along with bunches of sixth-grade only activities.

Kevin said he wanted to try out for football again this fall, and his schedule has changed twice since school started. He decided he would rather be the PE teachers aide rather than be in drama. Hey, why not take an easy 'A' where you can get it? We'll have back to school night for him in a couple weeks, he should be in full swing by then.
